How do I use a Rule?

Step-by-Step Instructions

A Rule is just a behavior that helps you control when you can run other behaviors.

The rule has 3 sections: the conditions section, the main behaviors section, and the Otherwise section.

  • Conditions - Conditions control which part of the rule will run. There must be at least one condition in this area. If the 'When * conditions are valid:' is set to 'All', all the conditions must be true for the main section to be activated. If the 'When * conditions are valid:' is set to 'Any', only one of the conditions needs to be true for the main section to be activated. If the combination of conditions does not allow the main section of behaviors(if any) to activate, then the behaviors(if any) in the Otherwise section are activated. Unless inside another Rule or a Timer that specifically controls when a behavior can run, a Rule will ALWAYS either activate the behaviors in the main section or the Otherwise section. See the Conditions Reference for more information.
  • Main Section - The main section of the Rule behavior contains other behaviors(including other rule behaviors).
  • Otherwise Section - The Otherwise section of the Rule behavior contains other behaviors(including other rule behaviors) that are activated when the combination of conditions do not activate the main section.
