Steve leads the overall strategic direction of GameSalad where he draws on an extensive background in digital media. Before joining GameSalad, Steve served as COO and CFO of DigiSynd, a social media marketing and analytics platform that was acquired by The Walt Disney Company. Steve joined Disney after the acquisition and oversaw operations for Disney’s first in-house social media division, managing social media strategy for Disney’s top brands including Pixar, ESPN and Disney Interactive Studios. Prior to DigiSynd, Steve worked in Corporate Business Development and Strategy at Warner Bros. where he focused on M&A, investments and strategic partnerships in the digital media space for the studio. Steve received his BA and MBA from UC Berkeley.
Frank Coppersmith is Chief Operating Officer for GameSalad. Frank oversees operations in the company’s Austin studio as well as leads continuing development of GameSalad's tools and platforms.
Frank is a seasoned senior executive with significant experience in the social gaming space. Prior to joining GameSalad, Frank served as VP, Finance and Administration for Challenge Online Games, where he was instrumental in the launch of multiple game titles for both the web and Facebook which led to Challenge being acquired by Zynga in May 2010. Earlier, Frank served as General Counsel to Toppan Photomasks, a world-wide manufacturer of semiconductor materials.
Frank holds a MBA in Finance and Operations Management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a law degree from Samford University and a degree in electrical engineering from The Citadel. Frank was named the Austin Business Journal’s Top CFO for small companies for 2010. Frank is a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force Reserves and has deployed to Iraq and Qatar.
Michael Agustin is Chief Product Officer at GameSalad, where he leads product vision and creative direction of the company. Michael conceived and co-invented all of GameSalad's flagship products, including Creator, Arcade, Marketplace, Cookbook, as well as Portable Game Format.
Michael co-founded GameSalad in 2007 with the intention of making media creation a lifestyle accessible to everyone, not simply a tool for the technically literate. In a previous life, he designed tools and artificial intelligence (AI) at Edge of Reality for console games such as Pitfall: The Lost Expedition and Sharktale. Michael was also part of Apple's Platform Experience Group assigned to work on the MacOS X operating system. Most recently, he was a designer and programmer at Three Rings for the online game Bang! Howdy.
Michael earned a master's degree in entertainment technology from Carnegie Mellon University where his primary research was focused on the rapid ideation and prototyping of games. He received his Bachelor's degree in computer science, with a minor in business, from The University of Texas at Austin.
As a co-founder of GameSalad and an innovator in the software development field, Daniel has helped to take the company to the next level. Prior to co-founding GameSalad, Daniel was a software engineer at Epic Systems, a software company focused on developing and supporting integrated, patient-centric applications for 175 of the largest and most respected healthcare agencies in the world.
Before that, he worked within Rice University's ground breaking Human-Computer Interaction Lab, a study designed to better understand interactions between humans and other elements of a system in order to optimize human well-being. While at Rice, Daniel developed scientific software for the program's MacOS X operating system.
Dan received his Bachelor of Science, with honors, in computer science from Gustavus Adolphus College.
Tan Tran, co-founder of GameSalad, has been hard at work trying to make life easier. He was the leading developer of web applications that have helped to revolutionized the way most people use the internet. Most recently, Tan was a senior web developer and a team-leader with Hotels.com, a leading online travel site. While at Hotels.com, he lead the development of the company's back and front end web-systems, helping Hotels.com become a leader in the travel industry.
Prior to Hotels.com, Tan developed the online bill payment system at FundsXpress, a pioneer in the on-line banking and bill-pay fields. Tan was also able to hone his business and entrepreneurial skills as the founder of a web design and consulting startup, Angel Concepts. While there, Tan was responsible for the business development and project management of the firm's services.
Tan holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin.
